7 Tips for Hosting Corporate Parties at a Brewery
If you’re planning a corporate event for a 21+ crowd, consider your local brewery for your next company party. Breweries have fun, fresh, flexible spaces and many of the amenities you need are already on-site, making it easy to tailor your event to your company’s specific needs. And breweries offer a relaxed, casual atmosphere that encourages people to settle in and enjoy their time, rather than simply making their appearance before dashing off.
A good company party will boost your coworkers’ morale and help them build deeper, lasting connections. Here are 7 great tips for planning and hosting corporate parties at a brewery.
1. Pick Your Brewery
If you’re lucky enough to be looking for an event space in an area with multiple brewery options for booking private events, this is where you need to begin. Look for a brewery that has your needed capacity and space, including flexible areas for different activities if applicable. If you can, visit the breweries in person to get a feel for the vibe and if it will work for your event. This is also a great time to sample the brewery's beer and food options.
2. Decide On Your Event Space
What kind of space do you need? Many breweries have both indoor and outdoor spaces, so make sure you can get the event space that you need for the time of your party. If the brewery only has a small indoor space but a large outdoor space, it might be a great fit for mild temperatures but not as desirable during hot, humid summer months or in the depths of winter. A comfortable space will make your party more enjoyable and prevent people from leaving early.
3. Book In Advance
Once you have decided on your brewery, you’ll want to make sure you book far enough in advance to secure your desired date. Breweries are increasingly popular event spaces, so you’ll want to lock in your date as soon as you can. When you do this, you’ll need to let the brewery know if you plan to book the entire space, or just certain rooms (in the case of larger breweries). Breweries like Deadwords have multiple, flexible spaces that can be rented out individually or combined in various ways to meet your needs.
4. Plan Your Food Options
Many breweries that serve food will offer catering options for private events. Ask about their catering options and if they are different from the brewery’s standard menu. Remember that the food a brewery serves is usually carefully selected to complement their beer offerings!
5. Consider Your Decorating Needs
Will your corporate party require any decorating? If so, make sure to consult your brewery contact about any special considerations. Breweries typically have very high ceilings so you likely won’t be able to hang things from the ceiling and any balloons will probably need to be weighted down. If you are going for a chill vibe and hope to use candles, make sure and get the brewery’s permission in advance.
6. Arrive Early To Set Up
Make sure and arrive early on the day of your event to get everything exactly as you want it. This is especially true if you need to configure any unique spaces for activities or if you have specific seating plans or ideas to encourage your coworkers to gather. An early arrival will also give you plenty of time to handle any last minute changes—or inspirations!
7. Encourage Ride-Sharing
Safety and responsibility is the name of the game here at Deadwords Brewing. As with any event where alcohol is consumed, you’ll want to encourage attendees to use a taxi service or ride-sharing program (Uber, LYFT) if they partake in the beer or other alcohol available at your corporate party. Consider appointing a party host to check with each person as they leave and see if they need assistance calling a ride.
